Begusarai, June 2: Samastipur secured their second consecutive victory in the Central Zone of the Shyamal Sinha Inter District Under-16 Cricket Tournament, defeating Saharsa by ten wickets, thanks to outstanding bowling and a brilliant batting performance by Shashwat Vats (91 runs off 33 balls, including 17 fours and 3 sixes).
In the match held at the Barauni Fertilizer ground, Saharsa won the toss and opted to bat first. However, their batsmen struggled against the formidable bowling attack of Samastipur and were bowled out for a mere 104 runs in 36.5 overs.
For Saharsa, Sumit Rai top-scored with 26 runs, while Arush Ranjan, Mrinal Singh, and Ayush Kumar contributed 10, 12, and 16* runs respectively. The team also benefited from 15 extra runs.
Samastipur’s bowlers delivered an excellent performance, with Mandeep Kumar Gyani taking 3 wickets. Avinash, Kumar Sandhiyal, and Vikrant Kumar each claimed 2 wickets, and Anurag took 1 wicket.
