Mumbai: Salman Khan defended his former co-star Katrina Kaif against postpartum weight trolling during the latest Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 20. Without naming Kaif, Khan addressed the online harassment she faced after attending Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai.
Kaif, who welcomed her first child with husband Vicky Kaushal in November 2025, became the target of body-shaming comments following her appearance at the Ambani family’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations on September 14. The trolling focused on her postpartum weight gain.
Khan Calls Out Trolling of Mothers
Khan questioned why people target women who have recently given birth. He said, ‘Why do you troll somebody who gets pregnant? Pregnant hone ke baad everyone puts on weight… Jab woh picturon mein wapas ajayegi toh woh fit ajayengi… she wants to spend time with her family.’
He emphasized that weight gain after pregnancy is natural and that the woman in question would return to her previous fitness level once she resumed working in films. The remarks were widely interpreted as a defense of Kaif, with whom Khan has shared the screen in films like Ek Tha Tiger and Tiger Zinda Hai.
Khan Addresses His Own Trolling
Khan also spoke about the age-related trolling he has faced personally. He stated, ‘Of course, I’m 60 years old, yaar. You cannot be Maine Pyar Kiya all the time… this age has become (a topic) suddenly (log kehte hai) woh budha hogya hai… what do you want to troll.’
He added, ‘Mujhe pata hai mujhe kaun kaun troll karta hai… hum react nahin krte… humare fans club itne sare hai… humko kya farak padta hai… bolne do inko.’
During the episode, Khan removed his hat and t-shirt, and wiped off his makeup on camera to challenge trolls. He then displayed his physique and said, ‘They troll me, saying Bhai mota ho gaya hai. Come on, troll me now.’
Khan Criticizes Paparazzi Practices
Khan also condemned paparazzi for filming actresses from inappropriate angles. He said, ‘Paparazzi hip shots lete hain, taangon ke shots lete hain, aur agar peeche se shot mil jaaye toh woh bhi lete hain. None of these heroines, none of the girls like it.’
He recalled an incident involving his niece being filmed from behind and urged women to speak up against such behavior. He stated, ‘Agar aisa ho toh ghoom ke ek chamat maaro aur bolo, Apni maa-behen ka shot le lo. Disgusting people! What is this mentality?’
