Patna: Several leaders and hundreds of supporters of the Jan Suraaj party joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at a membership programme held at the Bihar BJP state headquarters on Saturday, with senior BJP leader and Bihar minister Pramod Chandravanshi claiming the move reflected growing public support for the BJP and the NDA ahead of the Bankipur Assembly by-election.
At the event, Jan Suraaj leaders Avinash Pratap Rudy, district councillor Ruby Gupta, Ruby Singh and a large number of party workers formally joined the BJP. Chandravanshi welcomed the new entrants and administered the party membership to them.
Addressing the gathering, Chandravanshi said leaders and workers from various political parties were joining the BJP after being impressed by the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the governance and development initiatives of Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. He claimed that a majority of Jan Suraaj leaders were now associating with the BJP, which, according to him, reflected the strengthening public confidence in the BJP and the NDA.
He also asserted that there was overwhelming support for the BJP candidate in the Bankipur Assembly by-election. Referring to the previous Assembly election, he claimed that just as voters had rejected Jan Suraaj then, its candidate in the Bankipur by-election would also fail to make an impact. Chandravanshi expressed confidence that BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha would secure a record victory.
State BJP General Secretary Dr Preeti Shekhar welcomed the leaders and workers who joined the party, saying the BJP continued to attract people from all sections of society. She described the BJP as not merely a political party but an organisation committed to nation-building, adding that its worker-centric culture, spirit of public service and development-oriented politics were encouraging people to join voluntarily.
She urged the new members to take the party’s ideology to every section of society and expressed confidence that their induction would further strengthen the organisation and help the BJP achieve greater success in the Bankipur by-election as well as future elections.
Among those present at the programme were state media in-charge Danish Iqbal, state spokesperson Neeraj Kumar, Kuntal Krishna, Sangeeta Singh and several other party office-bearers and workers.
