Patna: The tender process for the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) Headquarters building is set to conclude by the end of this month, with work to be allotted to the selected agency next month. Construction is scheduled to commence in January.

This project, valued at over ₹27 crore, falls under the purview of the Urban Development and Housing Department, which will oversee the tender process. For several months, the project faced delays due to the vacant Chief Engineer position in BUIDCo. With the recent appointment of a Chief Engineer, the tender will soon receive both technical and administrative approval.

Once the work is assigned, the selected agency will take approximately a month to mobilise resources and prepare the site for construction.

Nutan Rajdhani Zone Office to Relocate

The new headquarters will be built on PMC-owned land in front of the Bihar Vidhan Sabha Gate on Harding Road. Currently, this site houses the headquarters of the Nutan Rajdhani Zone. Following the tender’s finalisation and the allotment of work, the existing building will be demolished to make way for the new structure. Efforts are underway to identify an alternative location to shift the Nutan Rajdhani Zone office.

A Six-Storey Building with Modern Facilities

The upcoming six-storey PMC headquarters will include a basement workshop for vehicle repairs and counters on the ground floor for birth-death registration and other public services. The upper four floors will house the offices of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Municipal Commissioner, and other officials, along with workspaces for corporation employees.

Approximately 40% of the plot area will be reserved for parking and ancillary purposes. Municipal Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar confirmed that the tender process is in its final stages and construction will soon commence.
