Patna: To improve traffic management in Patna and curb rule violations, cameras have been installed at intersections across the city, and online challans are being issued to offenders. Taking a major step, Patna Traffic SP Aparajit Lohan has recommended the cancellation of driving licences and vehicle registrations for repeated violations.

An Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) office near Gandhi Maidan has been set up to monitor traffic and enforce rules. Emergency call boxes have also been installed at key intersections, allowing citizens to contact the control room directly in case of emergencies.

In the past six months, Patna Traffic Police has recommended suspending the licences of 5,691 repeat offenders and sent proposals to the District Transport Officer for cancelling the licences of 133 individuals.

SP Aparajit Lohan emphasised that multiple summons have been issued to violators. If they continue to disregard traffic laws, criminal cases may be filed against them. “Strict action, including licence and vehicle registration cancellation, will be taken against those who repeatedly flout traffic rules,” stated the Traffic SP.

The initiative aims to ensure better compliance with traffic regulations and reduce accidents in the city.
