Drones to Monitor Muharram Processions in Patna

Patna: To ensure law and order during Muharram, magistrates and police officers will be deployed at 353 locations across the city, with special vigilance at sensitive areas. The procession will be monitored by drones and overseen by the ICCC established by Patna Smart City Limited. District Magistrate (DM) Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajiv Mishra have instructed officials to comply with the standard operating procedure, including keeping the social media monitoring cell active to quickly refute rumors and taking strict action against anti-social elements and biker gangs. Muharram will be celebrated on July 17.

The DM and SSP announced the formation of four quick response teams. Officials must ensure that no procession occurs without a license and must conduct physical verifications of procession routes. The use of DJs is completely banned.

Deployment details include magistrates and police officers stationed at 55 locations in Patna Sadar subdivision, 75 in Patna City, 72 in Danapur, 41 in Barh, 46 in Masaurhi, and 64 in Paliganj. These officers are instructed to be present at their designated locations on time. Additionally, 22 magistrates will be on reserve in three shifts in the district control room, with specific allocations for control rooms in Patna City, Danapur, Masaurhi, and Paliganj. An adequate number of striking forces will be available in the district control room. Officials are also required to hold peace committee meetings at all levels. Ambulances with doctors, paramedical staff, and necessary medicines will be on standby for emergencies.

Deputed magistrates, SHOs, COs, SDOs, and SDPOs have a special responsibility to prevent any untoward incidents. Senior officials in charge of maintaining law and order and peace include City SP Central Chandra Prakash, City SP East Bharat Soni, City SP Abhinav Dhiman, and ADM Law and Order Rajesh Roshan. SP Rural Roshan Kumar will oversee rural areas.
