Industry leaders, policymakers, and management experts came together at the Regional Management Conclave 2025, hosted by the Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) in collaboration with the All India Management Association (AIMA) on Friday – March 7, 2025. The event, themed on ‘Leadership and Management – Strategies to Sustain, Scale, Succeed’, explored strategies for driving sustainable growth and resilience in an evolving business landscape.

Inaugurating the conclave, Ahmedabad Mayor Smt Pratibhaben Jain spoke about the critical role of leadership and management in shaping a progressive economy. She praised AMA’s contributions to fostering excellence in management education and paid tribute to Dr Vikram Sarabhai’s legacy. She encouraged effective adoption of management principles to address civic challenges in urban centres like Ahmedabad.

Since the event was organised on the eve of International Women’s Day, Smt Pratibha Jain took the opportunity to highlight the growing influence of women in leadership roles.

The conclave saw a special address by Honourable Minister of State Mr Jagdish Vishwakarma. The minister reinforced the synergy between leadership and management, drawing insights from ancient Indian wisdom and linking them to modern initiatives like ‘Make in India’ and ‘Self-Reliant India.’

During the opening remarks, Dr Savan Godiawala, President, AMA talked at length about the role of leadership in businesses. “Effective leadership and management are crucial in navigating the complexities of the modern business world. Sustainability and Scalability are essential for driving growth and thriving success,” he added.

AMA vice president, Rajiv Gandhi highlighted the importance of building resilient organisations in today’s competitive landscape. “Leadership is about responsibility and strong leadership and management practices are necessary for achieving long-term sustainability and scalability. By adopting the right strategies, leaders can build resilient organisations that thrive in today’s competitive landscape,” he explained.

Sanjay Kirloskar, Chairman and Managing Director of Kirloskar Brothers Limited, spoke on sustainability initiatives, stressing energy conservation, carbon footprint reduction, and women’s leadership. Former IPS officer and Special Secretary, Internal Security, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, Ms Sundari Nanda, addressed the need for diversity and inclusion, advocating for the philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’.

Adding to the engaging discourse, Richard Rekhy, Vice Chair of Grant Thornton India, and Yash Shah, Founder of The Address, shared perspectives on shaping India’s future through strong leadership. For thousands of women, like 40-year-old Avanti Bai Dhakad — a seasonal agricultural labourer from Nagari village in Ratlam district, Madhya Pradesh — Project Indradhanush has been life-changing. Through decorative painting, she found not only a source of stable income but also a newfound sense of confidence and independence. Likewise, Anil and Antim Bala’s dream of growing their income from their small general store is now a reality. After becoming paint-entrepreneurs, their monthly income has increased by 70%, giving them the hope and means to build a brighter future for their young children.

Initiated in Darrang, an aspirational district in Assam in 2021, Project Indradhanush has since then rapidly expanded, touching more lives with each passing year. Today, the initiative empowers rural women across nearly 270 villages in Villupuram, Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram districts of Tamil Nadu; over 480 villages in Howrah, Bankura, West Bardhaman, Purulia, East Midnapore districts of West Bengal; nearly 120 villages in Ujjain, Ratlam and Mandsaur districts of Madhya Pradesh; 30 villages in East Singhum, Jharkhand; and in the Nuh district in Haryana.

Over 200 international teachers and leaders from Nord Anglia Education Schools recently collaborated at the SEAMEI Teaching  and Learning Conference 2025 in Abu Dhabi. The event spanned over three days and brought together intellectual minds in education to explore leadership, resilience, innovation, and inclusion. Educators from Oakridge International School, Gachibowli, were also a part of the conference where they shared best practices and gained fresh insights from fellow educators.

The sessions were majorly focused on professional development, collaborative learning, and strategies to enhance student outcomes in the constantly evolving educational landscape.

Prerna Lohia, Grade 1 Co-Ordinator from Oakridge, Gachibowli expressed, “The conference was an opportunity to realise that we are a talented team of educators along with specialists who are constantly curating and creating ways and techniques to make education meaningful and productive, designed for the learner of today and adapted to the changing times. It was an opportunity to understand cultural perspectives, best practices across schools, and share complexities of teaching and learning on an international platform, reinforcing the value of collaboration.”

Innovation and Professional Development in Education

The key topics discussed during the conference were AI in education, neurodiversity, and the groundbreaking research on metacognition, a concept focused on helping students become independent, self-directed learners. The experts highlighted how embedding metacognitive strategies in the classroom can enhance students’ problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.

Rob Walls, Head of Middle East Schools at Nord Anglia emphasized the significance of these discussions, mentioned, “By embedding metacognitive strategies in the classroom, we help students develop the skills to become independent and self-directed learners.
