Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will commence his latest Yatra from Valmiki Nagar in West Champaran on 15 December 2024. During this tour, the Chief Minister will review various development schemes, including phases one and two of the Saat Nishchay Yojana, as well as other public welfare initiatives.
This announcement was made by Bhishma Sahni, Bihar Legislative Council member and JD(U) Bagaha District President. Sahni noted that the Chief Minister will interact with women, meet members of Jeevika groups (Jeevika Didis), and assess the implementation of development projects in five panchayats. The Yatra also aims to promote women’s self-reliance by supporting self-employment initiatives and will include the launch of the second phase of the Jal Jeevan Hariyali Yojana.
Sahni acknowledged that the Yatra, dubbed Saat Nishchay Part Two Sushasan Yatra, is seen as preparation for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. Historically, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has undertaken state tours before elections to review government schemes and engage directly with the public.
Since taking office in 2005, Kumar has conducted 14 such tours across Bihar, many of which started from West Champaran, particularly Bagaha subdivision. These initiatives have been instrumental in strengthening governance and development efforts, with this Yatra continuing that tradition.
