Workshop on Protein Purification and Proteomics Techniques Held at TPS College, Patna

Patna: A two-day workshop on protein purification and proteomics techniques commenced on Friday, organised by the Botany Department of TPS College, Patna. The programme was presided over by Prof. Upendra Prasad Singh, Principal of TPS College. Prof. Upendra stated that such workshops are regularly conducted at the college, and emphasised the usefulness of this event for researchers.

The chief guest, Prof. Rimjim Sheel, Principal of Ganga Devi Women’s College, highlighted that new research not only enhances employment opportunities but also plays a critical role in the diagnosis and identification of diseases. She further noted that the current demand for technical expertise is on the rise, making workshops like this invaluable for advancing participants’ research.

Key speaker, Dr. Ashish, a scientist from ICMR-RMRIMS, Agamkuan, Patna, explained to participants that proteomics evaluates the activities, modifications, and interactions within protein complexes. He added that protein profiling provides insights into the diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes of haematological diseases. Dean, Prof. Abu Bakar Rizvi, noted that through protein purification techniques, researchers can contribute significantly to alleviating human suffering caused by various diseases.

Dr. Vinay Bhushan Kumar, the Organising Secretary, welcomed all the guests and participants, mentioning that 32 individuals from five universities took part in the workshop. He also stressed the role of protein profiling in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as diabetes and cancer. The event was attended by several faculty members, including Prof. Krishnanandan Prasad and Prof. Prashant Kumar.
