Patna: Waiting Hai, the crime comedy series starring Divyenndu Sharma and Bhuvan Arora, began streaming on MX Player by Prime Video on September 16, 2026. The seven-episode first season is available in Hindi on both the MX Player and Prime Video platforms.
The series is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sameer Vidwans, known for Satyaprem Ki Katha. It is set in Patna and revolves around India’s Tatkal railway ticketing system.
The Plot
Divyenndu plays Sugam Mishra, a newly posted Railway Protection Force officer. He notices that certain agents secure confirmed Tatkal tickets with suspicious ease while ordinary passengers remain on waiting lists.
Bhuvan Arora plays Afroz Hamza, a computer expert who develops software capable of booking Tatkal tickets successfully. What begins as an attempt to impress a girl gradually turns into a business operation.
Afroz partners with his uncle, known as Mama, played by Vijay Maurya. They build a network of ticket agents with help from a local figure named Bhoora Bhaiya, played by Yashpal Sharma.
Sugam begins investigating the unusual booking patterns. The story follows his pursuit of the people behind the operation as the racket grows and the participants face rivalry and betrayal.
Cast and Production
The supporting cast includes Kumud Mishra as Pramukh Tripathi, Harshita Gaur as Princy, Sunita Rajwar as Shanti Devi, Dayashankar Pandey as ASI Lokesh Kumar and Naved Aslam.
The series is written by Shreyas Jain, Prateek Payodhi and Ashish Thomas. It is produced by Ajay Rai, Sana Warsi and Jyoti Deshpande. A Jio Studios presentation, the show is a Jar Pictures Production.
Waiting Hai marks a reunion for Divyenndu and Harshita Gaur, who previously appeared together in Mirzapur as adversarial characters. In this series, they portray a married couple.
Amogh Dusad, Director and Head of AVOD Content at Prime Video India, said the series takes the everyday struggle of securing a railway ticket and builds a scam dramedy around it.
Divyenndu said Sugam is not a typical cop who has everything figured out. ‘He is trying to find his feet professionally while also dealing with the realities of his personal and newly married life. That balance makes him very relatable, and I enjoyed exploring that side of him,’ he said.
Bhuvan Arora said Afroz has a good heart but finds himself doing things that are not right. ‘That contradiction is what I really enjoyed exploring,’ he said. He added that knowing the story is loosely based on real-life events made it more intriguing.
Director Sameer Vidwans said the series offered the opportunity to bring together an unusual premise and layered characters while balancing humour with tension and intrigue.
Release Details
The trailer was unveiled on September 10, 2026. It presented the series as a crime-comedy rather than a thriller.
Waiting Hai is now available for streaming. Viewers can watch the seven episodes for free on Prime Video and the MX Player Android app.
