Patna: In the Bihar State Under-7 Boys’ and Girls’ Chess Championship underway at Pleasant Valley School in Sandalpur, Saharsa’s rated player Rudra Pratap has taken the sole lead in the boys’ section with five points after the fifth round. In the girls’ section, Bhojpur’s Aavya Srivastava is leading outright with four points following the completion of four rounds.
In today’s matches, Rudra defeated Krishna of Lakhisarai with the black pieces to move into an undisputed lead. Meanwhile, seven players are jointly placed second with four points each. The final round, scheduled for tomorrow morning, will determine the winners.

In the girls’ category, Aavya Srivastava secured a decisive victory over Patna’s Aadya Sagar to extend her lead. On the second board, Muzaffarpur’s Samayra defeated Banka’s Prisha N. Shukla to claim second place with 3.5 points. Adhira, Anvi and Amayra are jointly placed third with three points each.
The final round of the Under-7 category will be played tomorrow morning, followed by the prize distribution ceremony. The Under-9 category matches will commence at 2 pm tomorrow and continue until May 2.
