Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) is set to remove garbage sub-dumping yards near AN College, Panitanki, and Gardnibagh Hospital, addressing long-standing demands from local residents. These sites have been a source of dirt and stench for both nearby residents and daily commuters.
Gardnibagh Garbage Yard to Be Shifted
The sub-dumping yard near Gardnibagh Hospital will be relocated to the vehicle yard of the Nutan Rajdhani Zone in Yarpur. A state-of-the-art garbage transfer station, estimated to cost ₹2 crore, will be constructed there. The tender settlement process is underway, with allotment expected after 15 January. Work orders are likely to be issued by the end of the month, allowing construction to commence promptly.
Plans for AN College Sub-Dumping Yard
Similarly, the garbage yard near AN College, Panitanki, will also be shifted. Officials are in the process of identifying a suitable site within the zone. Once finalised, the tender process will begin, and work orders are expected by the month’s end. The new transfer station will also be constructed at a cost of ₹2 crore, offering much-needed relief to residents.
Modern Facilities Across All Zones
PMC plans to build state-of-the-art garbage transfer stations in all zones of the city. In the Bankipur Zone, a transfer station will be constructed near Musallahpur Market Committee, utilising the corporation’s vehicle yard along the road from Macdonald Golambar to Musallahpur. In Kankarbagh Zone, the station will be set up in Transport Nagar. For Azimabad and Patna City zones, sites have already been selected for construction.
Completion Timeline
Municipal Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar stated that the tendering process for all zones will begin on 15 January, with work orders issued by the end of the month. Construction of these transfer stations is expected to be completed within five to six months.
This development is set to significantly improve waste management in Patna, ensuring cleaner and more hygienic surroundings for its residents.
