Patna: The Patna High Court has issued a temporary stay on the appointment of 145 drivers in the Forest Department following allegations of irregularities in the recruitment process. The stay was imposed by a single bench of Justice Vivek Chaudhary after hearing a petition filed by 51 applicants challenging the recruitment.
The applicants, represented by Advocate Jagannath Singh, argued that the recruitment process violated the provisions outlined in the official advertisement. Specifically, they pointed out that advertisement number 37/2023 stipulated a weightage of 25 marks for drivers appointed on a contractual basis, but the results were published without awarding this weightage.
Advocate Singh informed the court that the verification of successful candidates was scheduled for 30th September and 1st October. He argued that the recruitment process should be investigated before any further action is taken.
In response, the court has stayed the appointments until further notice and requested a response from the government on the recruitment process. The next hearing is scheduled for 24th October 2024.
