Patna: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) emerged victorious in the by-elections for four Bihar Assembly seats, delivering a resounding setback to the Grand Alliance. The NDA’s clean sweep included Belagnj, Imamganj, Ramgarh, and Tarari constituencies. Candidates from Prashant Kishore’s Jan Suraaj party, contesting their first election, failed to secure even a second-place finish, settling for third and fourth positions.
Celebrations and Congratulatory Messages
NDA leaders, led by BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, met Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to celebrate the victory and presented him with a bouquet. The jubilant leaders declared this triumph as a precursor to the 2025 assembly elections.
Belagnj: Manorama Devi’s Dominance
Manorama Devi, wife of the late Bindi Yadav and a former JD(U) MLC, broke RJD’s 35-year dominance in Belagnj. She secured 73,334 votes, defeating RJD’s Vishwanath Kumar Singh, who garnered 51,943 votes, by a margin of 21,391 votes. Prashant Kishore’s candidate, Mohammad Amjad, came third with 17,285 votes.
Manorama Devi thanked the voters for their support, bowing to Maa Kali and Lord Mahadev. She vowed to serve the constituency as their “daughter and sister” and work towards its development.
Imamganj: Deepa Manjhi Wins for HAM
In Imamganj, Deepa Manjhi, daughter-in-law of Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, secured victory with 53,435 votes, defeating RJD’s Roshan Kumar Manjhi by 5,945 votes. Jan Suraaj’s Jitendra Paswan finished third with 37,103 votes. Voter turnout in Imamganj was recorded at 51.01%.
Deepa Manjhi attributed her success to the people of Imamganj, expressing gratitude to NDA leaders and promising to work tirelessly for the constituency.
Ramgarh: Ashok Kumar Singh Claims Narrow Victory
The Ramgarh seat witnessed a close contest, with BJP’s Ashok Kumar Singh defeating BSP’s Satish Kumar Singh Yadav by just 1,362 votes. Ashok Kumar Singh secured 62,257 votes, while Satish Kumar Yadav managed 60,895. RJD’s Ajit Singh, son of state president Jagdanand Singh, came third with 35,852 votes.
Tarari: Vishal Prashant Defeats CPI-ML
In Tarari, BJP’s Vishal Prashant, son of strongman Sunil Pandey, secured a decisive win with 78,755 votes, defeating CPI-ML’s Raju Yadav by 10,612 votes. Jan Suraaj’s Kiran Singh finished third with 5,622 votes. Voter turnout in Tarari was 52.84%.
A Turning Point for NDA
With this clean sweep, NDA leaders have expressed confidence in retaining power in Bihar in the 2025 assembly elections. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary hailed the results as a testament to the people’s trust in the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
