Patna: HAM candidate Deepa Manjhi clinched victory in the Imamganj assembly seat in Gaya, Bihar, winning by a margin of 5,563 votes. Following the announcement of her triumph, a celebratory atmosphere took over the residence of Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi. Drums echoed through the area, sweets were distributed, and Deepa’s mother, former MLA Jyoti Devi, expressed her joy by affectionately kissing her daughter.
The win marks the third consecutive victory for the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) in the Imamganj constituency. Previously, Jitan Ram Manjhi himself had won the seat twice before passing the baton to his daughter-in-law Deepa, who secured the seat this time. Deepa Manjhi garnered 51,132 votes, defeating her closest rival, RJD candidate Roshan Manjhi, who received 45,569 votes. Jansuraj’s Jitendra Paswan finished third with 36,458 votes.
Expressing gratitude, Deepa Manjhi thanked the people of Imamganj, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and the NDA leadership for their support. She promised to work diligently for all residents of the constituency, irrespective of their vote.
“This victory belongs to the people of Imamganj and the NDA alliance. I will dedicate myself to serving everyone, both those who voted for me and those who did not,” said Deepa Manjhi. The celebrations at Jitan Ram Manjhi’s residence continue as the family and party workers rejoice in HAM’s sustained influence in the constituency.
