Patna: Kumar Harshit of Patna delivered an outstanding performance at the Ravindra Narayan Singh Memorial 70th Bihar State Inter-District Table Tennis Championship, held on 25th December at Sports Bhawan, Saharsa. Harshit secured three titles, triumphing in the men’s singles, men’s doubles, and boys’ under-19 singles categories.
Riyanshi Gupta and Kavish Sahu also shone brightly in the competition, each winning two titles. Riyanshi claimed victories in the women’s singles and doubles events, while Kavish emerged victorious in the boys’ under-17 singles and men’s doubles categories.
In the women’s singles final, Kumari Ananya of Patna finished as the runner-up, while Bagisha Singh and Mahi Gupta shared third place. In the men’s singles, Mohit Jha of Patna secured second place, with Ankit Kumar and Piyush D Gandhi finishing third.
The women’s doubles title was won by the pair of Riyanshi Gupta and Falguni Mukherjee, defeating Nandini and Mahi Gupta in the final. In the men’s doubles, the team of Kumar Harshit and Kavish Sahu claimed victory, with Mohit Jha and Ankit as runners-up.
The championship concluded with a prize distribution ceremony. Dr Alok Ranjan, the chief guest, presented the awards to the winners and assured his continued support for sports development in Saharsa. Kunal Kumar Singh, India Youth Table Tennis Team coach and the special guest, committed to promoting table tennis in the region.
Roshan Singh Dhoni, Secretary of the District Table Tennis Association, praised the participants and expressed his intent to organise even better tournaments in the future.
