Patna: Newly appointed Bihar president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Jitendra Singh, formally assumed office on Thursday after leading a massive march with thousands of young supporters from Income Tax Golambar to the BJP state headquarters.
After offering prayers in his office, Singh delivered his first address at a ceremony held in the state party office premises. Appearing emotional, he said, “I bow my head in gratitude to the organisation of Ma Bharti, which has elevated an ordinary party worker to this position. For me, this is not a post but a sacred opportunity to serve. I am not the president; I am your first worker.”
Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, National President Nitin Nabin, State BJP President Sanjay Saraogi and Organisation General Secretary Bhikhu Bhai Dalsania, Singh said, “Even if you call me at midnight, your brother will answer the phone. The Yuva Morcha is not only the backbone of the BJP but also its heartbeat.”
Singh said that from the sacrifice of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee to the abrogation of Article 370, the Yuva Morcha had endured police batons and imprisonment but had never allowed the banner of ‘Nation First’ to bow. “This chair is not a stepping stone to power but a means to empower the youth of Bihar,” he said.

Targeting the opposition, Singh declared that the time had come to separate truth from falsehood. “On one side is a dynastic political gang for whom the youth are merely an ‘MY vote bank’. On the other is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationalism, for which the youth represent ‘MY Bharat’. On one side are the politics of appeasement, kidnappings and massacres associated with the 1990s. On the other is the vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’. Bihar’s youth are educated and aware. They want the light of development, not the darkness of jungle raj,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Bihar Government Minister Sanjay Singh Tiger expressed confidence that the BJYM would achieve new milestones under Jitendra Singh’s leadership. He said the youth wing was expected to work continuously to ensure that the benefits of government welfare schemes reached every young person in the state.
He described Singh as a determined leader who had emerged through grassroots struggles, adding that his journey from a local party worker to state president would inspire lakhs of young people to join the BJP.
Among those present at the ceremony were Bihar Government Minister Sanjay Singh Tiger; Chief Whip of the Bihar Legislative Assembly and Digha MLA Dr Sanjeev Chaurasia; former Bihar BJYM state presidents Sushil Chandravanshi, Prem Ranjan Patel, Pradeep Dubey, Bharatendu Mishra and Durgesh Singh; National Vice-President Manish Singh; former BJYM State General Secretary Dharmendra Tiwari; Seemant Shekhar, Neeraj Navin and Shashi Ranjan; senior BJP leaders from Bihar; and thousands of BJYM workers from districts across the state.
The programme was conducted by Kulbhushan, while Mukesh Yadav delivered the vote of thanks.
