Varanasi: Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW), the premier production unit of Indian Railways, has achieved yet another significant milestone in the field of sports. For the first time, the prestigious DP World PGTI NexGen Golf Tournament 2026 will be held at the BLW Golf Course from June 16 to June 18, 2026. Hosting this national-level championship will provide BLW with a distinct identity on the professional golf map of India and establish Varanasi among the country’s prominent sporting destinations.
Owing to its excellent natural surroundings and sporting environment, the BLW Golf Course has been selected to host this prestigious tournament. Organized by DP World PGTI, the event aims to provide emerging golfers of the country with a competitive platform to progress to national and international levels.
As part of the tournament preparations, course setup and final arrangements has been completed today. A Pro-Am Event will be organized on June 14, 2026, featuring a 9-hole competition at 4:00 PM between combined teams of BLW golfers and professional golfers. The prize distribution ceremony for the event will also be held on the same occasion. A practice round for participating players is scheduled on June 15, 2026, while the main tournament will take place from June 16 to June 18, 2026. The championship prize distribution ceremony will be conducted on the final day of the tournament.
This event is not merely a golf tournament but also a significant initiative towards promoting the sport of golf in India. Hosting such a prestigious championship in the spiritual and cultural city of Varanasi will provide fresh momentum to the development of golf in Eastern India and inspire young aspiring golfers.
