Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is currently undertaking the Pragati Yatra, a state-wide tour to review development initiatives and engage with local officials. As part of the second phase of his tour, the Chief Minister visited Durgapatti in Khutauna block, Madhubani district, on Sunday, arriving by helicopter. During the visit, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 139 development schemes, collectively worth approximately ₹1,000 crores.

The day began with an inspection near Videshwar Sthan, followed by a visit to Mithila Haat in Araria Sangram. Subsequently, the Chief Minister convened a review meeting with senior officials to evaluate district-level schemes. As part of his agenda, he inspected key projects, including the Har Ghar Nal Jal Yojana, the Pucca Nali Gali Yojana, solar streetlights, Anganwadi centres, and various departmental stalls.

Among the projects inaugurated were the Rainwater Harvesting Scheme, Beautification Scheme of Amrit Sarovar, and a Newly Constructed Park under the MNREGA initiative at the Higher Secondary School in Durgapatti. CM Kumar also inspected the under-construction Panchayat Government Building and Work Progress Unit (WPU) at Durgipatti Panchayat Bhawan before departing for Sukki by helicopter.

The Chief Minister’s Pragati Yatra has so far covered Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, and Darbhanga. After Madhubani, he is scheduled to visit Samastipur on Monday.

On this occasion, Janata Dal-United (JDU) National President Sanjay Jha highlighted the tour’s focus on addressing local challenges and enhancing infrastructure. “The Chief Minister’s visit to Mithila encompasses a deep engagement with its culture, food, investment prospects, and the Koshi Canal systems. Immediate decisions on local issues will be taken,” he said.

The inauguration of the River Front in Araria was also a highlight of the programme. The event witnessed the presence of prominent leaders, including JDU Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Jha, MP Rampreet Mandal, and Bihar Minister Lesy Singh, underscoring the government’s commitment to advancing regional development.
