Patna: In a shocking incident in Danapur, Patna, thieves stole property worth ₹4 lakh from a house situated directly opposite the Sultanpur police outpost. The burglary occurred late on Sunday night while the homeowners were away. The audacious crime has raised serious questions about local security and police patrolling.

Homeowner Varun Kumar revealed that he had locked his house on Sunday morning to travel to Nalanda for his wife’s examination. Upon returning on Monday morning, he found the lock on the main door broken and the entire house ransacked. The thieves stole ₹90,000 in cash and jewellery worth ₹3 lakh stored in a Godrej almirah.

Shockingly, the incident took place just metres from the police outpost, yet the officers were unaware of the crime. When Varun initially reported the theft, the officer on duty directed him to call Dial 112. A police team arrived soon after and began investigating.

The thieves appeared to have taken their time, as they thoroughly searched every room on both floors, broke multiple locks, and even consumed biscuits and bread left in the house. Local residents, frustrated by rising crime, voiced their concerns, pointing out the alarming frequency of thefts, mobile snatchings, and vehicle robberies in Patna.

Despite the blatant nature of the crime, the police have yet to find any leads. The incident has left locals questioning the effectiveness of the police force, especially given the proximity of the theft to the outpost.
