Patna: The Bihar women’s U19 cricket team showcased an exceptional performance to defeat Meghalaya by 58 runs in the Women’s U19 One Day Trophy match held at Alur Cricket Stadium-II in Bangalore. Bihar batted first and scored 173 runs in 39.4 overs, setting a challenging target of 174 runs for Meghalaya. In reply, Meghalaya’s team could only muster 115 runs for 9 wickets in their allotted 50 overs, handing Bihar a convincing victory.
Anjali Kumari was the standout performer for Bihar, scoring a brilliant half-century with 55 runs off 75 balls, including 8 boundaries. Her commanding innings laid the foundation for Bihar’s total. Supporting contributions came from Akshara Gupta (22 runs), Soni Kumari (20 runs), and Julie Kumari, who remained unbeaten on 18 runs. These efforts ensured Bihar set a competitive target for their opponents.
Meghalaya’s bowlers put up a commendable fight, with Jayshree claiming 4 wickets, while captain M Singh took 3 wickets and Jaylinan chipped in with one. Despite their efforts, Bihar’s batting depth proved too strong to contain.
Bihar’s bowlers then took centre stage, delivering a dominant performance to restrict Meghalaya’s batting lineup. Sidhi Kumari led the charge with 4 wickets, dismantling Meghalaya’s hopes of a successful chase. Baby, Julie, and Khushi Kumari each contributed with a wicket, maintaining tight control over the opposition’s scoring.
For Meghalaya, Janika scored 27 runs, followed by Palika with 16 runs and captain M Singh with 14 runs. However, the lack of partnerships and Bihar’s disciplined bowling left them well short of the target.
