Patna: Bihar Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari has announced stringent action against more than 3,000 teachers allegedly found to have secured jobs using forged documents, saying the Education Department will adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards corruption while strengthening certificate verification and recruitment procedures.
Speaking to the media, the minister said the investigation into the matter had been underway for a long time and had now revealed that over 3,000 teachers were employed on the basis of fake certificates. He said departmental officials had been directed to take strict action against those involved.
Tiwari said the Education Department would ensure such stringent action that no one would dare seek government employment in future using forged certificates. He added that several investigations were still pending, but made it clear that the department would not tolerate any form of fraud. The government, he said, would follow a policy of zero tolerance towards corruption. He also announced that, in future recruitment drives, educational certificates would be verified before appointments are made.
On the fourth phase of the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4), the minister said departmental officials had been instructed to prepare the recruitment requisition by July 25. The government expects to forward the proposal to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) by the last week of July. He said recruitment would be carried out for at least 20,000 teaching posts and that the number could be increased if required.
The minister also spoke about the opening of the teachers’ transfer portal from Friday, saying the transfer process would be carried out in multiple phases. Officials would receive training on the e-Shikshakosh platform, while the Education Department believes the online system will improve transparency in transfers. Teachers will be able to apply for transfers to schools of their choice from home, enabling the department to assess vacancies more accurately. Training on the software will be provided to all District Education Officers (DEOs) and District Programme Officers (Establishment) on July 11.
