Patna: In a major crackdown on organised crime, the Bihar Police have announced a reward of ₹25,000 each for the arrest of 29 absconding criminals wanted in murder, extortion, firing and other serious offences. The Home Department and Police Headquarters have directed police across all districts to launch a special drive to trace and arrest the accused as part of efforts to strengthen law and order in the state.
The Bihar Home Department and Police Headquarters have been taking continuous measures to strengthen control over crime in the state. As part of the latest initiative, rewards of ₹25,000 each have been announced for 29 criminals who have been absconding for a long period in connection with murder, extortion, firing and other serious criminal cases. Police units across all districts have been instructed to conduct a special operation to secure their arrests.
Among those named are Sonu Kumar and his associate Saurabh Kumar, who recently came into the spotlight following an attack on the convoy of a Bahubali legislator. Police have been conducting sustained raids to arrest both men. Officials believe that the reward announcement will encourage the public to provide information leading to the arrest of the fugitives.
According to sources, Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma had recently recommended to Patna Zonal Inspector General Jitendra Rana that rewards be announced for the absconding criminals. Following approval from the Police Headquarters, rewards of ₹25,000 each were declared for all 29 accused. The move has already yielded results. Kadamkuan police arrested absconder Ravi Kumar alias Ravi Yadav, while Ram Krishna Nagar police apprehended Dheeraj Kumar.
The list of reward-carrying fugitives includes Krishna Sahni alias Bhagelu Bhojpuri, Sadhu Yadav alias Shankar (Pirbahore), Chandan Kumar alias Bunty (Aurangabad), Mohammad Hussain (Sabzibagh), Mohammad Taufiq (Pirbahore), Rahul Kumar alias Rahul Yadav (Gardanibagh), Shiva Dom (Alamganj), Amar Prasad Soni (Masaurhi), Priyadarshi Yadav alias Darshan Yadav (Gardanibagh), Sudama Singh (Kotwali), Murshid Ahmad (Siwan), Dheeraj Kumar (Bodh Gaya), Vishal Paswan (Vaishali), Saurabh Kumar (Panchmahala, Barh), Sonu Kumar, and Sonu Singh (Panchmahala, Barh).
Others on the list are Pushkar Anand Jha (Bhootnath Road, Kadamkuan), Ravi Kumar alias Ravi Yadav (Phulwari Sharif and Kadamkuan), Amit Kumar (Phulwari Sharif), Bittu Kumar alias Roshan (Gandhi Maidan), Raju alias Sameer Singh alias Ajay Singh (New Jalpaiguri, West Bengal), Sonu Kumar (Mehandiganj and Patliputra), Sameer Kumar alias Karan (Patliputra), Vishal Kumar Singh (Patliputra), Ravishankar Kumar (Airport police station), Bajrangi alias Ravishankar (Hilsa, Nalanda), contractor Vishwanath Singh (Vaishali), Mohammad Pappu Khan alias Javed Khan (Digha), and Shekhu Khan (Khajekalan).
Police Headquarters said the arrest of absconding criminals remains its highest priority. Members of the public have been urged to immediately inform the local police if they have any information about the reward-listed accused. Officials assured that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential. Police believe the campaign will accelerate the arrest of absconding criminals and further strengthen law and order in Bihar.
