Patna: Bihar delivered an outstanding performance to defeat Nagaland by 9 wickets in the Women’s Under-15 One Day Trophy, showcasing impressive bowling and strong batting by captain Pratibha Sahni (29 not out) and vice-captain Akshara Gupta (27 runs). Bihar will face Kerala in their next match on 25th November.
The match, held at JNN College of Engineering Ground in Shimoga, Karnataka, began with Nagaland winning the toss and opting to bat. However, their batting line-up faltered against Bihar’s disciplined bowling, managing only 73 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 35 overs. Bihar, in response, chased down the target with ease, scoring 74 runs in just 7 overs while losing only one wicket.
Nagaland’s innings struggled to gain momentum, with only Neetu Chhetri (30 runs off 42 balls, including five fours) and Sasirenla Jamir (10 runs) reaching double digits. Bihar’s bowlers dominated the proceedings:
- Akshara Gupta: 2 wickets for 13 runs
- Chetali Sanjeet: 2 wickets for 10 runs
- Anushka Singh: 2 wickets for 12 runs
- Vaishnavi Singh: 1 wicket for 7 runs
- Priya Raj: 1 wicket for 7 runs
Nagaland also benefited from 25 extras to reach their modest total.
Bihar’s chase was led by captain Pratibha Sahni, who remained unbeaten on 29 runs off 19 balls with four boundaries, and vice-captain Akshara Gupta, who scored 27 runs off 18 balls with four boundaries. Priya Raj contributed 11 not out off 7 balls. Nagaland’s Chele K took the only wicket, conceding 8 runs.
This emphatic victory highlights Bihar’s strong form in the tournament as they prepare to take on Kerala in their next challenge.
