Patna: Bihar have taken a dominant position against Tripura in the final match of the Vijay Merchant Trophy U16 Men’s Plate Group at Vikas Cricket Ground, Bhubaneswar. By the conclusion of the second day’s play, Bihar lead by 171 runs, putting them in a strong position to secure victory.
In their first innings, Bihar posted a total of 279 runs in 97.2 overs. Sarthak Jha was the star performer, scoring a brilliant 90 runs, while Mohit contributed an unbeaten 63, stabilising the innings.
Tripura’s bowlers worked hard, with Prithiraj Gop picking up three wickets. Subhdeep Paul and Kishan Sarkar claimed two wickets each, while Mahin and Omkar managed one wicket apiece.
Tripura struggled with the bat in response, being bowled out for just 157 runs in 55 overs. Siddharth was the highest scorer with 46 runs, supported by Mahin (31) and Prasenjit (25).
Bihar’s Aryan Patel delivered an outstanding bowling performance, taking five wickets to dismantle Tripura’s batting order. Mohit was equally effective, grabbing four wickets, while Bhaskar chipped in with one.
In their second innings, Bihar scored 49 runs for the loss of three wickets in 31 overs, extending their total lead to 171 runs by stumps on Day 2.
With two days of play completed, Bihar are in a commanding position, thanks to remarkable contributions from Sarthak Jha and Mohit with the bat and Aryan Patel with the ball. Tripura face an uphill battle on Day 3 to stay in contention.
