Patna: Bihar Chief Minister (CM) Samrat Choudhary on Friday transferred ₹1,423.94 crore directly into the bank accounts of 97.84 lakh social security pension beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The disbursement covers the June 2026 instalment under the state’s three pension schemes and the May and June 2026 payments under the Centre’s National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP). The Chief Minister also announced that the 10th of every month will be observed as Bihar Pension Day to ensure timely pension payments.
Addressing a programme at the Sankalp auditorium at the Lok Sevak Awas, Choudhary said the state government would ensure that all eligible pensioners receive their pension through DBT by the 10th of every month.
He said the successful transfer of ₹1,423.94 crore to 97.84 lakh beneficiaries reflected the government’s commitment to strengthening social security. He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the dignity and welfare of the poor, elderly, persons with disabilities and other disadvantaged sections had been accorded the highest priority.
Speaking on the occasion of Bihar Pension Day, the Chief Minister reiterated that the government remained fully committed to safeguarding the dignity, social security and welfare of poor, deprived, elderly, disabled and needy citizens.

Choudhary directed officials to use Sahyog Shivir and Panchayat Vikas Diwas programmes to identify and enrol every eligible beneficiary so that no deserving pensioner is left out. He also instructed officials to expedite Aadhaar linkage for beneficiaries whose accounts are yet to be linked and ensure that pension payments are made in a timely, transparent and error-free manner.
The Chief Minister said the government’s objective extended beyond providing financial assistance and aimed at strengthening the dignity, security and confidence of every needy citizen. He said that increasing the monthly social security pension from ₹400 to ₹1,100 had brought a significant improvement in the lives of beneficiaries, reaffirming the government’s commitment to the welfare of vulnerable sections.

Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Social Welfare Minister Dr Shweta Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit and senior officials of the Social Welfare Department attended the programme. District Magistrates and social security pension beneficiaries from across Bihar participated through video conferencing.
More than one crore people are registered as pension beneficiaries in Bihar. However, several eligible beneficiaries have not received pension payments due to pending Aadhaar linkage or unverified life certificates. The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive their pensions without delay. The state government currently provides financial assistance under six different pension schemes, with old-age pension beneficiaries forming the largest group.
