Patna: Bihar Chief Minister (CM) Samrat Choudhary chaired a high-level review meeting of the Road Construction Department at the ‘Sankalp Sabhagar’ in Lok Sevak Awas on Thursday.
During the meeting, Department Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal presented a detailed update on the progress of various road and bridge projects, along with maintenance efforts and future plans.
The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure there is no negligence in the construction quality or maintenance of roads and bridges. He emphasised that providing safe, smooth and high-quality road connectivity to the public remains one of the state government’s top priorities.
He also instructed that financial resources for construction and maintenance works should be managed efficiently so that projects are completed on time without compromising on quality. Regular inspection of all bridges by experts and adherence to prescribed safety audit standards were also stressed.
Reviewing the progress of the Munger (Safiyabad)–Bariarpur–Ghorghat–Sultanganj–Bhagalpur–Sabour four-lane Ganga Path project, the Chief Minister directed that the work be carried out under the Hybrid Annuity Model. He said the project must be executed in a time-bound and high-quality manner to strengthen connectivity in eastern Bihar and boost economic activity and tourism in the region.
The meeting was attended by Road Construction Minister Kumar Shailendra, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal, Secretaries to the Chief Minister Lokesh Kumar Singh and Sanjay Kumar Singh, Chairman of Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Ltd Dr Chandrashekhar Singh, Managing Director of Bihar State Road Development Corporation Ltd Shirshat Kapil Ashok, along with other senior officials.
