Bhagalpur: Bihar Chief Minister (CM) Samrat Choudhary today conducted aerial survey of Vikramshila Setu over river Ganga here to assess condition of the damaged bridge.
A suspended span of the bridge between pillars no 3 and 4 in zone A of the bridge had collapsed and fallen into river on intervening night of last Sunday and Monday.
The traffic movement on Vikramshila Setu had come to halt following collapse of the suspended span, the direct road link with districts of state located in northern side of river Ganga besides north Bengal has been snapped with districts in southern part of state.
The concerned senior government officials were present with Choudhary during aerial survey. Apart from officials who were with him, the general manager of border road organization besides senior engineers of bridge construction corporation and national highway division were present at site of Vikramshila Setu here.

As per official information following aerial survey all concerned officials were directed by CM to attach priority on repair and reconstruction of damaged bridge.
He stressed upon need of early mitigating inconveniences of people due to damage of the bridge. Choudhary further directed to take up repair and reconstruction work under supervision of experts and also for maintaining safety standards while undertaking repair and reconstruction work.
In course of aerial survey CM also inspected boat service started by district administration for people from both side of river. It may be mentioned the district administration has started boat service from Barari and Babupur ghats here to Mahadevpur ghat in Naugachia subdivision.

Meanwhile CM today also inspected on -going work being undertaken in Khagaria district for renovation, strengthening and widening of State Highway (SH) -95 connecting Saharsha and Khagaria districts. He directed for completion of the ongoing work by December 31, 2026. On completion of construction work the distance between Khagaria and Saharsha it is stated will be reduced by approximately 90 kilometers.
Choudhary also conducted aerial survey of bridge being constructed over river Ganga between Sultanganj in this district and Agwani ghat in Khagaria district. Followed by aerial survey spot inspection of under construction bridge was also undertaken by CM.
In meeting held subsequently Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary directed officials to ensure completion of construction work of the bridge and also approach road by next year. During his visit to Khagaria district, CM was accompanied by Vijay Kumar Choudhary, deputy chief minister beside senior officials of state government.
