Patna: Amid ongoing bomb threat alerts targeting several courts across Bihar, two armed criminals attempted to enter the Patna Civil Court in the state capital, triggering panic among lawyers and visitors. Alert security personnel managed to apprehend one of the suspects, while the other fled the scene.
The arrested youth has been taken into police custody and is being questioned. Following the incident, a sense of fear has gripped advocates and members of the public present in the court premises.
Frequent threat-related information in recent days has heightened feelings of insecurity among lawyers and citizens. There is growing demand for the administration to further strengthen court security so that advocates can carry out their duties without fear.
Town DSP Rajesh Kumar said security personnel deployed at the main entrance of the Civil Court were conducting routine checks when two youths attempted to enter the premises under suspicious circumstances. A pistol was recovered from one of them, after which he was immediately overpowered. Taking advantage of the situation, his accomplice managed to escape.
The arrested suspect has been identified as Piyush Kumar, a resident of Vaishali district. The seized weapon has been taken into police custody. Officials are investigating why the accused entered the court complex carrying a firearm and what his intentions were.
Considering the seriousness of the incident, police have intensified efforts to trace the absconding accused. Raids are being conducted at suspected locations based on inputs provided by the arrested youth. Security has also been tightened inside and outside the Civil Court premises, with additional police personnel deployed and intensive frisking operations underway to prevent any untoward incident.
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma also visited the spot and reviewed the security arrangements. He issued clear instructions to officers that no negligence in court security would be tolerated under any circumstances.
