Prithvi Raj’s Maiden Century Lifts Bihar to Strong Position Against Assam in U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy

Patna: Prithvi Raj’s unbeaten 134 propelled Bihar to a solid position in their second innings, reaching 235 for 8 on the second day of their U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy match against Assam in Barpeta. Bihar now holds a lead of 177 runs, with Suman Kumar supporting Prithvi on 5 runs at stumps. This is Prithvi’s first century in a BCCI tournament.

Assam began the second day on 112 for 8 in their first innings but managed only 16 more runs, ending on 128 all out. Bihar’s bowlers delivered effectively, with Aditya Raj and Suman Kumar each taking three wickets, backed by Kumari Tejaswi Yadav and Satyam Kumar.

In response, Bihar’s second innings got off to a shaky start. Opener Agastya was dismissed for 13, and Dipesh Gupta and Mohammad Alam followed cheaply. Prithvi Raj and Aditya Sinha stabilised the innings briefly with a 13-run partnership before Sinha fell for 29.

Despite losing partners regularly, Prithvi held his ground. He built steady partnerships with Taufiq, Aditya Raj, Satyam, and Suman Kumar, reaching his century in a resilient display of batting. He ended the day on 134 not out from 170 balls, striking 17 fours and 4 sixes.

Assam’s bowlers worked hard, with Harsh Kumar and Mohit Thakur each taking three wickets. Ayushman Malakar and Prithviraj Kashyap chipped in with one wicket each, but Prithvi’s impressive innings ensured Bihar stayed on top at the close of play.
