Varanasi: A total of 134 Agniveers took the solemn oath to serve the nation during a smart Passing Out Parade held at the 39 Gorkha Training Centre, Varanasi, on June 20, 2026. The parade was reviewed by Lieutenant General Zubin A Minwalla, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Ati Vishist Seva Medal & Yudh Seva Medal, DCIDS (Ops), HQ IDS & Colonel of the 9 Gorkha Rifles.
The ceremony marked the culmination of 24 weeks of rigorous Basic and Advanced Combat Training which, recognising the changing character of modern warfare; laid special emphasis on the integration of emerging technologies. A notable feature of this course has been the comprehensive exposure of all Agniveers to drone training, enabling them to understand and effectively employ Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) in contemporary battlefield scenarios as also counter enemy UAS. The Centre has infused drone usage into all lectures, demonstrations and field exercises for reconnaissance, surveillance and stand- off attacks. This phenomenal journey culminated in transforming spirited young men into ‘disciplined and mentally agile soldiers to join various operational units deployed in active field areas to safeguard the nation and its frontiers.
The parade was attended by a large gathering, including proud parents of the passing out Agniveers, distinguished veterans and eminent personalities from Varanasi. As the squads marched past the saluting dais and presented arms, the inspiring sight of confident and well-trained young soldiers brought tears of pride and joy to the eyes of their families and well-wishers.

The event stands as a testament to the unwavering spirit, dedication and courage of the Indian Army’s newest warriors.
