The suspended span of Vikramshila Setu over river Ganga here located between pillars no 3 and 4 in zone A of the bridge it may mentioned collapsed and fell into the river on intervening night of last Sunday and Monday.
With movement on Vikramshila Setu connecting southern and northern parts of state has come to halt following the incident, has created major inconvenience for people.
As an alternative arrangement aimed at resumption of restricted movement on Vikramshila Setu use of scaffolding bridge has been planned. Information about the plan was given by District Magistrate (DM) Nawal Kishore Choudhury to participants at an official meeting held today for discussing alternative arrangements that could help reduce problems of people in travelling across the river.
