Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024: Bihar Lose to Vadodara by 36 Runs in a Nail-Biting Match

Patna: In an exciting List-A match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Bihar took on Vadodara at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Despite a strong bowling performance, Bihar fell short by 36 runs in their chase.

Bihar’s Bowling Brilliance Restricts Vadodara

After winning the toss, Bihar opted to bowl first. The bowlers delivered an impressive performance, keeping Vadodara’s batting line-up under constant pressure. Amod Yadav led the attack with a spectacular spell, taking 4 wickets for just 38 runs in 10 overs. Pratap provided valuable support, claiming 2 wickets, while Suraj, Ghani, and Himanshu contributed a wicket each.

Vadodara struggled to build momentum and were bowled out for 277 runs in 49 overs, setting a challenging target for Bihar.

Bihar’s Chase: Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Heroics

Bihar started their chase of 278 runs cautiously but couldn’t maintain a consistent rhythm. Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a brilliant knock, smashing 71 runs off 42 balls with 4 sixes and 8 fours. Vipin Saurabh added a solid 40 runs off 42 balls, and Ghani contributed 43 runs off 82 balls.

However, the rest of the batting line-up struggled to make an impact. Frequent wicket losses and a slow start made the target increasingly difficult, and Bihar managed only 241 runs in their 50 overs, falling short by 36 runs.

Key Takeaways and Upcoming Match

While the loss was disappointing, individual performances like Vaibhav’s explosive innings and the bowlers’ disciplined efforts provided positives for Bihar.

Bihar’s next match is against Bengal on Friday, 3 January 2025, at the Gymkhana Ground in Hyderabad. The team will aim to bounce back with a more cohesive performance in the new year.
