By Neeraj Kumar

Patna: The Vigilance Department in Bihar continues its crackdown on corruption, with the latest arrest being Akhilesh Kumar, CEOS of the Electricity Department, who was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of ₹30,000. The arrest took place today at PESU Patna when Kumar was receiving the first instalment of a ₹90,000 bribe he had demanded from a victim.

After being approached for the bribe, the victim reported the matter to the Vigilance Department, which swiftly planned an operation. The department instructed the victim to hand over the first instalment of ₹30,000 as bait. As soon as the transaction occurred, the vigilance team raided the spot and arrested Akhilesh Kumar on the spot.

This action highlights the department’s commitment to combating corruption. It follows a similar arrest of Rahul Kumar Ranjan, Block Development Officer from Fatehpur zone in Gaya district, who was apprehended for accepting a bribe of ₹70,000.

The Vigilance Department’s ongoing campaign against corrupt officials demonstrates its zero-tolerance approach. Officials have assured that such strict measures will continue to ensure accountability and transparency in governance.

This latest action is part of a broader effort to deter corruption and uphold public trust in government institutions.
