Patna: The trophy for the Dr. Parmeshwar Dayal Memorial Under-13 Inter School Cricket Tournament, set to commence on 23rd September at the Cricket Academy of Bihar (CAB) ground, Moinul Haq Stadium, was unveiled on Saturday at the Patna University Geography Department auditorium. The tournament honours the memory of the late Dr. Parmeshwar Dayal, former Vice Chancellor of Magadh University and a distinguished geographer.
The unveiling ceremony was graced by former Vice Chancellor of Patna University Prof. Rasbihari Singh, Principal of Patna College Prof. Sanjay Sinha, Head of the Geography Department at Patna College Prof. Manoj Kumar Sinha, President of the Bihar Players Association Mrityunjay Tiwari, Ward Councillor and Member of the Empowered Committee, Patna Municipal Corporation Indradeep Chandravanshi, former captain of the Indian youth cricket team Amikar Dayal, Head of the Geography Department at Patna University Prof. Nazim, Associate Professor Devjani Sarkar, Assistant Professor Dr. Munna Manish Kumar, and Chandrakant. Also present were Santosh Tiwari, Naveen Kumar, coach Mukesh Kumar, and Raju Kumar from the Sardar Patel Sports Foundation.
Prof. Rasbihari Singh, speaking at the event, remarked that the tournament provides an excellent platform to nurture young school talent while serving as a fitting tribute to Dr. Parmeshwar Dayal.
Organising President Amikar Dayal shared that teams from schools, academies, and institutions would compete in the tournament, which will follow a knockout format. Each match will consist of 25 overs per side, with two matches held daily.
He further noted that Santosh Tiwari’s team is working diligently to ensure the tournament’s smooth conduct.
In addition to the trophies for the winning and runner-up teams, individual awards will be presented, including daily Man of the Match honours. Additional awards will recognise the Player of the Tournament, Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best Fielder, and emerging players.
