Patna: A lethal spell from Suraj Kashyap guided Patna to a convincing seven-wicket victory over Purnia in the first semi-final of the BCA Men’s T20 Trophy 2025–26, securing their place in the final.
The match, played on Monday at the Moinul Haq Stadium, saw Purnia struggle after opting to bat first. The side was bowled out for a modest 76 runs in 18.5 overs, failing to build any significant partnerships.
For Purnia, Abhishek Kumar top-scored with 25 runs, while Aqib Reza added 14. Animesh Kumar remained unbeaten on 14, and Sarman Nigrodh chipped in with 13. However, the batting line-up faltered against a disciplined Patna attack.
Kashyap was the standout performer with the ball, claiming four wickets for just 12 runs in his four overs. Rahul Rathore supported well with two wickets, while Pawan Kumar, Shasheem Rathore and Akash Raj picked up one wicket each.

Chasing a target of 77, Patna got off to a brisk start and comfortably reached 77 for 3 in just 9.5 overs. Akash Raj led the charge with an unbeaten 34 off 23 balls, including six boundaries. Ashish Kumar remained not out on 17, while Piyush Kumar Singh contributed a quick 17 off 10 deliveries.
For Purnia, Animesh Kumar took two wickets, while Bhaskar Dubey managed one.
With this comprehensive win, Patna have booked their place in the final, which will be played at the same venue on May 26, 2026.
