Patna: In the Kabaddi matches of the Patna District School Sports Meet 2024-25, Sheela Girls School, Aunta triumphed over Shriram Centennial 27-8 in the Under-19 Girls category, while SRP School claimed victory by defeating Shivam Convent 17-10 in the Boys category, becoming champions. In the Under-17 Boys category, Bal Vidya Niketan emerged victorious by defeating SRPS 27-11, and in the Under-14 Girls category, ANS Barh outplayed Open Mind Birla 20-12 to claim the championship title.
On the final day of the district-level school sports competition, organised by the District Administration Patna under the aegis of the Sports Department and the Bihar State Sports Authority, the volleyball finals were also held. In the Boys Under-17 volleyball category, Shivam Convent defeated Christ Church 25-12, 25-14, while in the Under-14 category, Shoshit Samadhan Kendra claimed the title by defeating DPS Patna 25-10, 25-15. In football, Boys Under-17, DPS secured a 3-0 victory over Gyan Niketan to win the title.
The prize distribution and closing ceremony took place at the Patliputra Sports Complex, where the Chief Guest, Mr. Tanay Sultania (IAS), Deputy Development Commissioner, Patna, awarded medals and trophies to the winners. In his address, Mr. Sultania highlighted the importance of sports, noting that nearly everyone in the world is connected to sports in some way. He also emphasised the state’s commitment to developing sports infrastructure, with the formation of sports clubs and the promotion of sports in every panchayat across Bihar. He congratulated all participants for their record-breaking participation and the successful organisation of the event.
District Sports Officer and Organising Secretary, Om Prakash, welcomed the Chief Guest by presenting him with a plant and a memento. After the prize distribution, participants and teams marched in a final display of sportsmanship. The meet concluded with the flag hoisting and the national anthem. The programme was conducted by Abhishek Kumar, NIS Instructor and Physical Education Teacher at High School Panal.
