Patna: Athmalgola claimed victory in the men’s category of the second Sanjay Sinha Memorial One Day Kabaddi Tournament, defeating the Dev Kabaddi Academy 35-25. The tournament was organised by the Dev Kabaddi Academy, Fatuha.
The event commenced with a floral tribute to an oil painting of the late Sanjay Sinha, followed by two minutes of silence in his honour. Attendees included several prominent figures from the Bihar Kabaddi community, such as Mrs. Jaya Sinha (wife of the late Sanjay Sinha), their son Mohit Madhav, grandson Agastya Madhav, Director of Dev Kabaddi Academy Kumar Vijay Singh, international referee Rana Ranjit Singh, and national umpire Rajesh Kumar. Mrs. Jaya Sinha presented awards to the players.
Kumar Vijay Singh praised the late Sanjay Sinha, referring to him as a cornerstone of Bihar Kabaddi. He highlighted Sinha’s significant contributions to the sport’s development in the state, which continue to inspire many. As the former Vice President of the Bihar State Kabaddi Association, Sinha played a vital role in numerous Kabaddi initiatives, including serving as the manager of the gold medal-winning Indian team in the Women’s World Cup. He had always advocated for establishing a Kabaddi academy in Bihar, and the concept of Dev Kabaddi Academy was shaped under his guidance.
