Severe Cold in Patna: Schools and Anganwadi Centres Closed for Classes 1 to 8 Until 25 January

By Neeraj Kumar

Patna: In response to the ongoing severe cold in Patna, all government and private schools, Anganwadi centres, and play schools have been ordered to remain closed for classes 1 to 8 until 25 January. Classes above year 8 will operate on a revised schedule, from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.

The directive was issued by Patna District Magistrate Dr Chandrashekhar Singh under Section 163. A copy of the order, referenced as letter number 876, has been sent to the Education Department and all police station sub-divisional officers.

According to the order, while classes above year 8 are permitted to function with adjusted timings, activities related to board examinations will continue without interruption. The District Magistrate’s directive will remain in effect until 25 January.

It is worth noting that schools in Patna have only been open for two days this month due to the extreme cold. Even when schools reopened briefly, they were quickly closed again following the District Magistrate’s instructions.

This precautionary measure aims to safeguard students from the harsh weather conditions, ensuring their health and safety during this period of severe cold.
