Patna: Saran emerged champions of the 52nd Bihar State Junior Boys’ Kabaddi Championship after defeating Buxar 49-45 in a thrilling final at the Pataliputra Sports Complex in Patna on Thursday (6 August, 2026). The tournament was organised under the aegis of the Bihar State Kabaddi Association.
Saran produced an impressive all-round performance throughout the competition and held their nerve in a closely contested final to lift the championship trophy. Patna and Bhojpur finished joint third.
In the semi-finals, Saran booked their place in the title clash with a convincing 56-37 victory over Patna. Buxar reached the final after registering a commanding 61-23 win against Bhojpur.
The championship decider witnessed a fierce contest between the two teams. However, Saran delivered a stronger performance in the closing stages to seal a 49-45 victory and claim the state title.
At the closing ceremony, the winners and runners-up were felicitated by Bihar State Kabaddi Association Chairman Kumar Vijay Singh, Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India Treasurer Rama Kant Singh, Patna District Sports Officer Jai Narayan Kumar, Buxar District Kabaddi Association President Shashi Rai and former international kabaddi player Rajeev Kumar Singh.
Also present on the occasion were Bihar State Kabaddi Association Referees’ Board Chairman Anand Shankar Tiwari, international referees Rana Ranjit Singh, Jaishankar Chaudhary and Raviranjan Kumar.
