Patna: Saloni Kumari from Purnia clinched the women’s singles title at the Hundred Bihar State Senior Badminton Championship held in Bhagalpur on Saturday. She defeated Srija of Patna in straight sets, 21-15, 21-15, showcasing her dominance on the court.
In the men’s singles final, Kartik from Patna delivered an impressive performance, defeating Sameer Raj from Purnia 21-15, 21-9 to claim the title.
The women’s doubles title was secured by Saloni Kumari and Simran Singh, representing Purnia and Patna, respectively. The pair defeated Fiza Hassan and Ranya Rana of Kaimur and Gaya with a commanding scoreline of 21-4, 21-16.
In the men’s doubles final, Ambuj Prakash and Tushar Kumar Setu from Jehanabad and Vaishali emerged victorious in a closely contested match, beating Abhiraj and Garv Sharda, both from Purnia, 22-20, 21-18.
The mixed doubles final saw Tabrez and Simran Singh, both hailing from Patna, defeat Sameer Raj and Vaibhavi Singh of Purnia and Katihar. The duo secured the title with a 21-12, 21-18 win.
The tournament concluded with a prize distribution ceremony where K.N.J. Jaisal, Secretary of the Bihar Badminton Association, along with other dignitaries, presented awards to the winners and runners-up.
The four-day championship, which commenced on 27th November, witnessed participation from players across all affiliated units of the Bihar Badminton Association. The event highlighted the exceptional talent and enthusiasm for badminton in the state, making it a memorable milestone in Bhagalpur edition of the tournament.
