Hajipur, Vaishali: Under the aegis of the Vaishali District Ball Badminton Association, a one-day men’s and women’s ball badminton match was held at Kushwaha Ashram in Hajipur, Vaishali, as part of the National Sports Day programme commemorating the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyanchand.
In a fiercely contested men’s match, Patna emerged victorious against the host Vaishali with scores of 36-34, 30-35, and 35-30. Meanwhile, in the women’s category, the host Vaishali team defeated Patna with scores of 35-20 and 35-29, claiming the winner’s title.
Standout performances in the men’s match came from Rahul, Prince, and Rohit of Patna, as well as Vinod Kumar Dhoni and Akash of Vaishali. In the women’s match, international players Priya Singh, Vandana, Muskan, and Kavita from Vaishali, along with Harshita, Muskan, Khushi, and Divya from Patna, displayed exceptional skills.
Following the matches, a prize distribution ceremony was held for the winning and runner-up teams. The honours were presented by the chief guest, Hajipur Nagar Chairperson Sangeeta Kumari, and the special guest, Vaishali District Women’s Police Station Head Moni Kumari.
In her address to the players, Sangeeta Kumari affirmed her ongoing support for athletes across all sports, including ball badminton, and encouraged the players to continue bringing glory to their district, state, and country through dedication and focus. Moni Kumari also encouraged the players, assuring them of administrative support whenever needed.
The event was organised with the welcome address by Vaishali District Ball Badminton Association Secretary Ravi Ranjan Kumar, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Bihar Ball Badminton Association Secretary Gauri Shankar.
