Patna: Senior IAS officer of the Bihar Government, Pankaj Kumar, formally assumed charge as the Principal Secretary of the Agriculture Department, Bihar, at Krishi Bhawan, Patna, on Thursday. The outgoing secretary, Sanjay Kumar Agrawal, welcomed Kumar during the handover ceremony.
Following the assumption of charge, Kumar held an introductory meeting with senior officials of the department at Krishi Bhawan. At the outset of the meeting, the Principal Secretary was introduced to all officers and was briefed on the department’s key schemes, programmes, and current working systems.
Pankaj Kumar stressed the importance of transparency, timeliness, and dedication in the department’s functioning. He stated that the Agriculture Department forms the backbone of the state, and its dynamism and innovation are key to the prosperity of farmers.
During the meeting, Pankaj Kumar directed officers of each division to prepare subject-wise PowerPoint presentations on the progress, scheme implementation status, and challenges faced in their respective areas for the upcoming review meeting. He underlined that proper analysis of data and information is essential for effective policy planning.
The Principal Secretary also made it clear that all officials must work in a spirit of coordination and cooperation to ensure that the benefits of various schemes reach the intended beneficiaries. He emphasised that all departmental activities should be centred around farmers’ welfare, as they are the backbone of the nation, and every possible effort must be made at all levels to support their well-being.
