Patna: Olympian Ankita Dhyani claimed the gold medal in the 3000-metre race at the Indian Open Under-23 Athletics Championship 2024, held at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna on Sunday.
Raveendran Sankaran, Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Bihar State Sports Authority, shared the news, highlighting Ankita’s accomplishments. Hailing from Pauri, Uttarakhand, Ankita represented India in the 5000-metre race at the Paris 2024 Olympics and also competed in the 2022 Asian Games. She is a renowned middle and long-distance runner.
Sankaran further added that Ankita is currently training in the United Kingdom but returned to Patna to participate in this championship, primarily to encourage other athletes. Her presence is a source of great pride and joy for the participants. IAS Kapil honoured Ankita by presenting her with a memento in recognition of her achievement.
