Patna: Thousands of devotees offered Eid prayers at Gandhi Maidan on the occasion of Eid amid rainfall on Saturday. However, in a first over the past two decades, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar did not attend the prayers.
Since assuming office, Kumar had been present at the venue every year, but this time, against the backdrop of shifting political developments, the scene appeared markedly different. His son, Nishant Kumar, represented the family at the event.

Extending greetings on Eid-ul-Fitr, Nishant conveyed his wishes to the people of Bihar and the nation. He was seen under Chief Minister-level security cover, accompanied by senior Janata Dal (United) leaders, including Ashok Choudhary. Muslim leaders welcomed him on stage by draping a traditional scarf.
Tight security arrangements were in place at Gandhi Maidan, with controlled entry for worshippers. Eid prayers were also offered at the Jama Masjid near Patna Junction, as well as in Phulwari Sharif and other Eidgahs across the city.

“On this sacred occasion of Eid, I extend my heartfelt greetings to the people of Bihar and the country on my behalf and on behalf of my father, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. May Allah’s blessings remain upon all citizens,” Nishant said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conveyed his own Eid-ul-Fitr greetings, particularly to the Muslim community. In his message, he expressed hope that the prayers and devotion observed during the holy month of Ramadan would bring peace and prosperity to families, the state, and the nation.
“I pray that harmony, peace, and brotherhood prevail in society. Eid is a day of reward, when God blesses His faithful devotees. May His grace shower upon all and may our lives be filled with happiness, peace, and prosperity,” he said.
