Patna: Nishant Kumar, son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, appears to have stepped into active public life soon after formally entering politics. After taking membership of the Janata Dal (United) on Sunday, Nishant was seen visiting several places across Patna over the following days.
On Sunday, he offered prayers at the famous Mahavir Mandir. On Tuesday, he visited a park in Kankarbagh named after his late mother, Manju Sinha, where a life-size statue of her has been installed. Nishant became emotional as he paid floral tributes to the statue and sought blessings from his late mother.
“I offered flowers at my mother’s statue and sought her blessings. She is no longer with us, but her blessings are always with me. If she were alive today, she would certainly have been happy,” Nishant said.
Speaking on the occasion, he recalled his mother fondly and appeared visibly moved. Several relatives from his maternal family were also present during the tribute.
Nishant also announced that he would soon embark on a tour of all districts of Bihar, visiting them one by one to connect with people. Responding to congratulatory remarks from opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav, he thanked him for the gesture.
He also congratulated the Indian cricket team on winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and expressed pride in cricketer Ishan Kishan, noting that it was a matter of honour that they both belonged to the same state.
Later, Nishant visited the revered Takht Sri Patna Sahib Gurudwara, where he offered prayers. The Gurudwara authorities welcomed him and honoured him with a traditional saropa.
On Sunday, Nishant Kumar was formally inducted into the Janata Dal (United) by the party’s national working president Sanjay Jha. At present, he has joined the party as an ordinary worker and has not been assigned any official responsibility.
However, political circles are already abuzz with speculation that he could be considered for the post of Deputy Chief Minister when a new government is formed in the state.
