Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary on Saturday asserted that the present NDA government, functioning under the leadership of Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, remains firmly committed to the path of development, good governance and social harmony laid down by Nitish Kumar.
Addressing a press conference at the JD(U) state office in Patna in the presence of state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasised that the government follows a strict zero-tolerance policy towards the “three Cs” — crime, corruption and communalism — with no scope for compromise. He added that the stringent policy against communalism, already in force, would continue with full resolve.
Appealing to the minority community, Chaudhary said the current government has taken concrete and effective measures for their uplift. Through various schemes, provisions have been made to ensure education, economic empowerment and social security, the benefits of which are reaching people on the ground. He alleged that prior to 2005, minorities were subjected to emotional exploitation for political gains, with little effort made towards their actual development.
He further stated that the initiatives undertaken under the leadership of Nitish Kumar for the welfare of minorities are now visibly evident at the grassroots level. Women have been empowered through self-help groups such as Jeevika, while children’s nutrition and student scholarships are being strengthened through targeted schemes.

The Deputy Chief Minister also accused the Opposition of spreading misinformation and creating an atmosphere of fear. Referring to the Citizenship Amendment Act, he said apprehensions were deliberately spread that citizenship would be revoked, which did not materialise. Similarly, claims regarding Waqf properties were unfounded and have proven false. He challenged the Opposition to clarify how many individuals have actually been affected under the CAA and how many eligible names were removed under the SIR process.
Chaudhary said that the minority community is now more aware and capable of distinguishing truth from misinformation. He maintained that just as all communities have felt secure and witnessed inclusive development during Nitish Kumar’s tenure, the present government will continue to ensure their safety and dignity.
In conclusion, he alleged that the Opposition is adept at political manipulation, portraying genuine supporters as culprits and vice versa. However, he added, the minority community now understands who truly works in its interest and who merely spreads confusion.
Several leaders, including Legislative Council members Lalan Kumar Sarraf and Sanjay Kumar Singh (alias Gandhi Ji), national spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad, former MP Sabir Ali, Major Haider Iqbal, Ashraf Ansari, Irshad Ali Azad, Afzal Ansari, Irshadullah and Prof Naveen Arya Chandravanshi, were present on the occasion.
