Patna: A high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary was held on Saturday at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat ‘Samvad’ to assess the progress of the Patna Metro Rail project, the Greenfield Satellite Township scheme, and the JP Ganga Path Integrated Park Phase 1.
During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted of the Metro Rail project and the proposed new townships in the state. Principal Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department, Vinay Kumar, presented a comprehensive briefing outlining the status of the projects. He apprised the Chief Minister of various practical and technical challenges affecting the implementation of the Patna Metro, including factors contributing to cost escalation and project delays.

The progress of the proposed 11 satellite townships aimed at promoting urbanisation in the state was also reviewed, along with updates on statutory procedures and their current status. Discussions were held on introducing an alternative and modern transport system, with a presentation on a Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system to connect Patna Airport with the Metro network, ensuring seamless and efficient connectivity for passengers.
The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that all projects are completed within the stipulated timelines and to resolve any obstacles in Metro construction at the earliest. He emphasised expediting work so that the public can benefit from improved transport facilities without delay.

He further instructed that work on the proposed satellite townships be accelerated and carried out in a phased manner in accordance with the planned timelines. Highlighting the importance of the PRT system, he noted that it would provide smooth and uninterrupted connectivity for airport commuters.
During the review, Secretary of the Road Construction Department, Pankaj Kumar Pal, gave a detailed presentation on the JP Ganga Path Integrated Park (Phase 1), a key component of Patna’s riverfront development. The project will span approximately 6 km from Digha to Sabhyata Dwar (Gandhi Maidan) and is targeted for completion by 25 September 2027. It will include parking facilities, landscaped gardens, pedestrian pathways, cycle tracks, six playgrounds, a women’s market, and urban gathering spaces.

The Chief Minister described the project as a significant initiative and directed that it be executed in an environmentally sustainable and well-planned manner. He stressed that facilities such as parking areas and playgrounds should be developed in a way that ensures ease of use for the public.
Following the review, the Chief Minister conducted an on-site inspection along JP Ganga Path, visiting locations including Digha, LCT Ghat and Bans Ghat to assess the proposed development works. He issued necessary directions to officials, underscoring that beautification and development should prioritise both safety and public enjoyment.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including the Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, Development Commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) Anand Kishor, and other senior administrative officers.
