Mairwa: The 14th Hockey Bihar Sub Junior Boys State Championship, organised by Hockey Bihar from 5 to 9 September 2024, concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony at the Adarsh Government Middle School playground in Mairwa block, Siwan district. Muzaffarpur emerged as the champions, defeating Saharsa 6-0 in a dominant final performance to claim the winner’s trophy.
Amarendra Kumar Singh was the standout player for Muzaffarpur, scoring four goals in the 5th, 20th, 35th, and 38th minutes. Chhotu Kumar added another goal in the 21st minute, and Sonu Kumar completed the scoreline with a goal in the 54th minute.
Sanjay Pathak, Secretary of Hockey Siwan, highlighted that this competition will serve as an inspiration for boys and girls in rural areas to take up hockey. The winners’ trophy was presented to Muzaffarpur by Dr Sharad Chaudhary, Secretary of IMA Siwan. The runner-up team, Saharsa, received their trophy jointly from Mohammad Farid, President of Hockey Siwan, and Vice President Dharmanath Yadav.
Amarendra Kumar Singh was awarded both the Man of the Match and Man of the Tournament honours for his outstanding contributions throughout the competition.
