Patna: Marking National Sports Day, the Kho-Kho Association of Bihar has introduced a landmark initiative aimed at boosting the sport’s profile across the state. Moving forward, Kho-Kho clubs, academies, and institutional teams will be granted direct entry into all sports events organised by the association.
Neeraj Kumar Pappu, Secretary of the Kho-Kho Association of Bihar, announced this development, explaining that while teams will need to adhere to specific rules and conditions, those that comply will effectively function as units of the association.
This initiative is expected to uncover hidden talents and significantly increase the number of competitions. Pappu also noted that in districts where player participation has been minimal, this policy is anticipated to encourage greater involvement.
In his statement, Pappu mentioned that, to celebrate National Sports Day, the association successfully hosted one-day tournaments across several districts, with strong participation from emerging players, thanks to the support of district associations.
Looking ahead, Pappu revealed that the dates for the second edition of the Women’s and Men’s Kho-Kho League would be announced soon. Furthermore, the Kho-Kho Association of Bihar has been selected to host this year’s Khelo India Women’s League, with preparations already in motion. Several selection trials and training camps are also planned to prepare teams for national competitions.
